The 77th edition of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) annual draft was held on June 22, 2023, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

With 58 picks in total, this year's draft saw French phenom Victor Wembanyama of Metropolitans 92 selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.

Wembanyama, a 7-foot-3 center with an incredible wingspan and exceptional ball-handling skills, became the first French player to be drafted No. 1 overall in NBA history.

Other notable selections in the first round included Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite, who went No. 2 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Cam Whitmore of Villanova University, who went No. 3 to the Houston Rockets.

The 2023 NBA Draft also featured several reported trades, including the Indiana Pacers acquiring Tyrese Haliburton from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.

With the draft now complete, teams will have until July 1 to sign their draft picks to contracts. The 2023-24 NBA regular season is scheduled to begin on October 18, 2023.
