Gabby Douglas' Comeback To Competitive Gymnastics Postponed

Douglas Withdraws From Winter Cup Competition

Highly Anticipated Return Will Have To Wait

Gymnastics fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see Gabby Douglas make her long-awaited return to competitive gymnastics.

Douglas has withdrawn from the Winter Cup competition this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky, according to multiple reports.

With Douglas' withdrawal, her highly anticipated comeback to competitive gymnastics will have to wait. She has not competed since the 2016 Olympics.

The 28-year-old was scheduled to participate in her first competition in nearly eight years Saturday at the Winter Cup in Louisville.

Douglas won her first Olympic gold medal in 2012 in the team all-around competition. She posted the highest score for Team USA in the qualifying round and the final.

Douglas also won an individual gold medal in the all-around competition at the 2012 Olympics, becoming the first African American woman to win the event.

She helped the United States win another team gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
